Question : Fail over mail - how does it work?
Hi there experts,
I am looking to setup a fail over mail server for one of my customers servers that's current going through some teething issues.
They have an exchange server hosted locally, but I am looking to setup a failover MX record on their domain so that if their server goes down, they won't loose emails.
How is this done?
I currently have another mail server running linux through the Direct Admin control panel. This (to my knowledge) runs Exim, so this I am assuming is what I would use to collect the mail.
I can currently happily setup the physical failover MX record, and do everything on that end, however the collection and then re-delivery is currently beyond me.
Do I need to setup a different peice of software? Do I simply use a catch all and then forward from the failover mail server?
Your help would be fantastic.
Regards
