Question : New DNS server
I am in the process of upgrading my current 2003 domain controler that also has my DNS and DHCP server installed on it to Server 2008R2. I know what I need to do to complete the upgrade however I am unsure of one thing. In order to keep from changing all the DNS settings on all my servers, web filter, dhcp and so on, can I just change the Name and IP address of the new DNS server to the same name and address as the old server?
Answer : New DNS server
As long as the new server provides dns service, all you need to to is keep the original ip
