Question : DNS question
Under our Windows 2000 domain; in DNS we have entries still showing for a Domain Controller no longer around. We would like to tidy the following:
under forward lookup zones:
_msdcs
> dc > sites
> One of the sites no longer exists, can this be deleted? It does not show in AD sites and servcies
> dc > _tcp we have entries for _kerboros and _ldap for a server that no longer exists, can the server be deleted?
Also under
_msdcs > domains > _tcp we have entries for _ldap (service location (SRV)) records for a server that no longer exists can this be deleted?
Again, under
Forward Lookup Zones > domain name> > _sites
A site in there does not exist, can this be deleted?
These are all SRV records for legacy sites and servers on the domain, is there any impact to removing these?
Im not sure what these records mean but I know its part of the original DNS service setup
Thanks
Answer : DNS question
If it's an AD integreated zone then your better of manually removing any reference to Server100.
if you accidentally remove any other entries then they will be re-created anyway.
There will be no impact the the rest of DNS doing this.
