Question : pcAnywhere connection issue using dynamic DNS
|
|
This is a strange one and someone will probably instantly know the answer but I'm scratching my head.
I have a site with a single PC and have set up dynamic DNS which appears to be working fine. For example I can connect to a VNC session using the dynamic DNS FQDN from a remote location with no problems. I can also ping the FQDN and the name resolves correctly every time. Also have pcAnywhere Host set up on the PC and can also connect to a remote session with no problems when I use the actual IP address. When I use the dynamic DNS FQDN however the pcAnywhere refuses to connect. It comes up with the error "Could not find the requested host"

Answer : pcAnywhere connection issue using dynamic DNS

If you are using Dynamic DNS you do not want to use the host file. If you do when your IP changes you will lose your DNS name. The host file is for static IP's.
I have never used PC Anywhere but is there any DNS settings in it?
