Question : Alcatel SpeedTouch USB dsl modem and ps2 connecting

I have a Alcatel SpeedTouch USB dsl modem. I'm wanting to connect my playstation2 for online gaming using my dsl modem. Since the modem doesn't have any ethernet ports for connections, I'm wanting to know how I can connect my ps2 using the modem. I do not need to share my connection between my pc and ps2 since I have no immediate need for networking. Any help would be appreciated.

Answer : Alcatel SpeedTouch USB dsl modem and ps2 connecting

The easiest way to do it is to stick an ethernet adapter in both your computer and your PS2, connect to the two together using a crossover cable.

You then share out your internet connection on the computer and configure the PS2 to pick up and IP address using DHCP and that's it, job done.

Your network looks something like this:

DSL Socket  --- Speedtouch USB --- Computer (Public IP address)
                                                            |
Computer Network Card (Auto configured by ICS to be 192.168.0.1)
                                                            |
PS2 Network Card (Assigned a 192.168.0.x address by ICS using DHCP)
                                                            |
                                                          PS2

Job done, let me know if you have any other questions.

Cheers,

R.
