Question : explanantion of pathping output required
|
|
Hi
I have the following pathping output and i wanted some explanation of what the data means, specifically
1) What does it mean when the RTT column shows --- , i.e. hops 7, 8, 9, 11 and 12? 2) What does it mean when Source to Here Lost/Sent=Pct > 0, i.e. hop 1 and 3 but This Node/Link Lost/Sent=Pct is 0? 3) Is the 1% lost between hops 10 and 11 significant?
Computing statistics for 390 seconds...

Answer : explanantion of pathping output required

1) See jhance's response. 2) This Node/Link Lost/Sent=Pct will tell you the rate that a link between two hops seems to be dropping packets. Don't worry about the Source to Here column, as it doesn't mean too much. 3) 1% loss is generally acceptable.... packets can and do get lost. However, you'll ideally want it to be no higher than 5%. (Obviously 0 is perfect, but this is an imperfect world)
