Question : The COM+ Event System detected a bad return code during its internal processing

Windows 2008 Standard Server SP1 running as a VMWare ESXi 3.5 host. Server being used as an Exchange 2007 Edge Server.

I am receiving the error below along with the Network Connections folder being empty. It seems as if the TCP/IP stack is missing or broken.

The COM+ Event System detected a bad return code during its internal processing.  HRESULT was 80010105 from line 202 of d:\vistasp1_gdr\com\complus\src\events\tier2\service.cpp.  Please contact Microsoft Product Support Services to report this error.

Any ideas?

Answer : The COM+ Event System detected a bad return code during its internal processing

1) 2008 server running as a VMware ESXi Guest.  ESXi takes over the bare metal as host.

2) Take a screen dump of your network config from the VI client and port it.

3) Can you ping the default gateway for the svr08 box?  need to get ping working before you worrk about name resolution, nettwork neighborhood or COM components.

4) can you connect to the esxi host with hthe VI client?  

5) is svr08 part of a domain. AD, or workgroup?
Are there other machine IN THAT security group?

6) Is IPsec running?  Does turning it off make a differnece?

7) Is this a new ESXi box or are there other Virtual guests running sucessfully on it?
