Question : How do I configure a Cisco 7940 phone to Auto-dial as soon as the  hand set is lifted?

Is it possible to configure a Cisco 7940 phone to auto-dial an extension as soon as the handset is lifted? I want to set up an after hours guest phone where someone not familiar with our phone system can just walk up to the phone , pick up the receiver and it will dial an attendant for them. We are running Call Manager 4.0

yes it is easy, just do the following:
1-create Partition P-AD
2-create Calling Search Space CSS-AD
3-put the partition P-AD i CSS-AD
4-assign this CSS to your phone
5-create Translation-Pattern and leave the Pattern BLANK and assign P-AD to this Pattern.
6-and let this Translation-Pattern to Attendant Extension.

this will do the job for you.
