Question : How to setup VPN pass through on the D-link DFL-800

Hi all,

I have installed a DFL-800 and have set up rules to allow port forwarding of RDP, SMTP and the PPTP Suite. They all seem to work fine.

I have also setup a rule to allow PPTP Suite to go from Lan to Wan but nothing I do seems to get the VPN pass through working.

I have gone into the advanced settings of the PPTP server and unticked the box too.

Can somebody please tell me what I need to configure to get VPN pass through working on the DFL-800 as it is driving me crazy.

Thanks in advace.

Cheers

You are trying to go from LAN to WAN?
I assume then you have a VPN client trying to access a VPN server somewhere on the internet. If so you simply need to check PPTP or IPSec pass-through (depending on your protocol) if anything. Generally even that is not necessary. All outgoing connections are allowed by default. Configuring the firewall for outgoing PPTP would probably be counterproductive.

If by chance you are trying to connect a LAN client to a VPN on your network via the D-Link's public IP, it will not work as that router does not support "hair-pinning".
