Question : internal DNS records for public IPs
internal DNS records for public IPs
we have a website for our company
www.Mycomapny.com
hosted by a third party company, it's accessed by external users.
For some reason our internal users need access to this website too from inside the network. While in the office they can't access this website because our internal DNS server doesn't have a record for the website. So far we know just the public IP address of the web site for instance 66.66.66.66.
I temporary added this public IP address(66.66.66.66) to our internal DNS server) and users can access the website.
Now I would like to know what's the other alternative to take in order to leave in our internal DNS server only private IP addresses. I don't know how it's usually done. do companies create a fictituous private IP address ie :10.11.12.13 then NAT this to 66.66.66.66 or how it's done?
Thanks
Answer : internal DNS records for public IPs
Since you have your internal and external the same name there isn't a way to properly send requests out to your ISP DNS server just for your website.
