Question : Cannot access OWA by domain name from within the network

Hello:
There is a refrence already to this question but I cannot get it to work and have a different version of exchange.
We are unable to get OWA internally but have no problems outside the domain.
We are running exchange 2003 with an SBC 2Wire box. We had problems getting out to the internet but email was fine so SBC checked everything and said it was fine. We would get a router behind router error. The problem continued until I reset the static ip and then everything worked. The only thing did not work was the OWA (for a mac or any internal machine) from within the domain. Nothing was changed on the router/firewall or on the server but it now does not access owa internally.

I saw a solution posted to a question by spawn x for this problem and tried the link and directions but it did not work or I should say that I could not get it to work,

I am not the best with DNS so I really need a step by step approach to fixing this.

Thanks

Mike

Answer : Cannot access OWA by domain name from within the network

assuming
company.com is your internet domain and company.local is your internal domain.
assuming you browse to https:\\mail.compamy.com\exchange to get OWA
create a dns zone on your SBS server for company.com, create A records for www etc with the same IPs as the outside world.
create an A record for mail as the internal IP address of your server (probably something like 10.0.0.1)

Alternatively - get your users to use
https:\\sbsservername\exchange when they are in the office.
