Question : Latutude C640 Wireless connectivity

Hello -

I have an older laptop Dell Latitude C640, Windows XP SP3.  With Dell TrueMobil1150 Series Mini PCI Card.  Card has the latest available driver from Dell.

Router is Netgear WGR614 v8.  Latest firmware installed.

Laptop is a foot away from the router and cannot connect. Other laptops can connect.
I can see the available wifi network on the list but all the bars are white (no signal).

Could that be some kind interference with specific kind router and wireless card?  Any ideas?

Thank you in advance

One other thing you can try before purchasing a new crd is download wireless network utility such as netstumbler (In fact your Dell Wireless Utility will work, too).

What you can check is by moving the laptop around, whether you get a decent signal at a particular location.

You may also check whether there are too many Wi-Fi networks on the same channel (typically 1, 6, 11) as your own Wi-Fi network is. If this is the case you may try and change the channel on your Wireless Access Point.

Hope this helps.

Warm regards,
sarang
