Question : Building Inactive / Disabled DNS Zone
Currently we have a Linux server covering one of our DNS zones and I want to move this zone to our Windows 2003 DNS servers. Problem is that the client machines use this zone frequently and I want to be able to build this zone on the Windows server but in a disabled or inactive state so that the Linux box can handle resolving the names while building the new zone in Windows.
Is there a way to do this?
Thanks in advance.
Answer : Building Inactive / Disabled DNS Zone
In the DNS console on the Windows server, right-click the zone and select Properties. In the General tab, click the Change button next to Type. That's where you can change it from secondary to primary (and integrate it with AD, if you so choose).
