Question : Servers not replicating

Hello experts

I started this new job on monday...kind of walked into a disater...neway. after the last 3 days of research i narrowed down the problem and solution I think

basically, this is my exact problem

http://www.experts-exchange.com/Networking/Windows_Networking/Q_22722619.html

on following all the expert advice i checked everything they called for, and am sure its a DNS problem but looking at the records could not find anything unusual.

we are running 2 DCs (win2k) and the DC1 with the master control will not respond to anything...ie..replicate, nobody can connect to it using UNC but can by IP

...so with that being said I want to demote the DC1 (appserver) (Holding FSMO roles)..tried to transfer roles to DC2 (fileserver) but failed (Current FSMO holder could not be contacted)

I believe my solution is to demote DC2 and re-promote it again...i thing that will establish communications between the 2 servers (and everyone else again)

my problem going off the discussion i listed above (on MrHusy solution)

          Hi jaylakerj
Would you please check the following
*Make sure firewall is disabled in BDC
                  *In PDC Start>Run>dnsmgmt.msc
In left-pane, click on _msdcs.yourdomain.xx. Now in right-pane you can see ALIAS in name section and the FQDN in data section. Double-click the CNAME of pequea03.PequeaMachineInc.local . At the first line ALIAS registered in DNS is shown. Keep that window open.

     An ALIAS example
                724156f1-dddf-49cc-b5ca-b9b39cc45fcf

                *Start>Run>dssite.msc
In left-pane, expand default firs site, expand servers, expand pequea03 then right-click NTDS settings>properties.
Now here, in DNS Aliaas name, ALIAS recorded ind AD database is shown. Compare this ALIAS for pequea03 with the ALIAS entry in DNS. Are they the same? If not (thats what I assume),

In DNS console, delete the corrupt ALIAS (CNAME)entry for pequea03.PequeaMachineInc.local. Right-click empty space then click New Alias (CNAME).
Copy the ALIAS entry in NTDS settings which is at the left side of    ._msdcs.PequeaMachineInc.
local ( Only copy the ALIAS, as in example above, do not copy the whole line with ._msdcs.PequeaMachineInc). Then paste it into the Alias name entry in DNS console. Then Click browse and locate peaquea03.
Click "Allow any authenticated user to update ....." Then OK.
Now right-click local are connection in network places properties then click repair. After that run netdiag /fix again

i get stuck on

 *Start>Run>dssite.msc
In left-pane, expand default firs site, expand servers, expand pequea03 then right-click NTDS settings>properties.
Now here, in DNS Aliaas name, ALIAS recorded ind AD database is shown. Compare this ALIAS for pequea03 with the ALIAS entry in DNS. Are they the same? If not (thats what I assume),

when I right click on my NTDS settings - properties it DOESNT list the DNS ALIAS name

if anybody could shed some light on the matter, i would GREATLY be grateful!!!

...attached is dcdiag
