Question : How do you ping from a router?

When trying to solve a problem I have been asked to ping from my router to a device on the network. The router is my default gateway. I can usually ping from my computer by running command prompt and pinging from there. However if I just log onto my router I just get the netgear settings page where I can amend stuff like firewall settings, I don't see how I can ping from there.

Can somebody please explain how I do this, thanks. To log onto the router I just put the IP address in IE and enter the username and password and it logs on to the settings page. Not understanding how I do a ping.

Answer : How do you ping from a router?

As donjohnston stated you may have a web page with those options. Many of the Netgears have a page named "diagnostics" which has a graphical interface to allow you to ping from the router. Check the routers web management console menu bar for the "diagnostics" option.
