Question : Cisco Antenna - Troubleshooting

Currently using Cisco 1231 802.11g Wireless Acess Point. I have been using standard dipole and want to change it out to the indoor YAGI stick for isolation. I just order a YAGI antenna and plugged it into the right (primary) channel. Will this work with on one channel being used???(Nothing on the left side). Also, Do all I have to do is go in and have to put transmitting and recieving on the right channel within the AP, Correct??? Is there anything else to do besides changing the basic SSID, etc?
