Question : subnetmask and error

Say I have two Ethernet lines. Ethernet 1 with host H1, H2, H3 with Ip address 10.0.0.10 -
10.0.0.12 respectively and Ethernet 2 with host H4, H5, H6. with IP address 10.0.1.1 -
10.0.1.3 respectively. Both are connected via a router. Subnet mask is 255.255.255.0

If H3 and H6 has the same Ethernet address (because of a mistake in the Ethernet card manufacture) can H3 and H6 connect without a problem? what about connecting between the other hosts?

I would say this would not be a problem because of the subnet mask distinguishes H3 and H6 to be on a different network and therefore they can connect to each other without a problem as they don't both know that they have the same ethernet address. As of connecting with other hosts, I don't think it would be a problem as well. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Answer : subnetmask and error

see attached.

R3 does not know the mac address of R6. it doesn't care. it knows the IP address and it knows that the router knows how to get a packet to R6.
