Question : Is T1 better then your normal comcast business class internet?

Here is the question that has been running in my mind. Why would someone want a T1 line when they are only providing 1.5 downloads. You can get more out of a comcast business account com paired to a t1. Right now the office can get 16meg download preaty good but why would someone want to cut there speeds and switch over to a T1 line and also use it for digital phone hosted PBX and crap.

The reason why I am asking this is that I have a client who I hooked up with business class internet service for the small company of like 2 computer in the office and a server. Now there on the 16 mg plan with a static ip. I come to fine out that this company http://www.isnvoip.com/206iconnect.php wants to hook them up with there iconnect plan which is t1 and phone.

To me who would want a T1 1.5 meg's

Answer : Is T1 better then your normal comcast business class internet?

If you are just looking at overall speed then yes comcast or any other cable provider seems like a better deal. But with anything in the IT industry there are many other things you need to take into account. Most of the time a T1 will come with an SLA and IMO better support than comcast is going to give. T1's can be used for phone, data, or both. T1s offer options for managed routers for remote offices etc without a network technician. If you are a medium to large business you can choose the option for an MPLS T1 which allows you LAN like access to your equipment. Once it is configured properly there is no need for site to site tunneling etc.

All of these things and more must be taken into account when deciding between cable or a T1.
