Question : SSI not working on IIS - Not a stupid question

Hi,

I have a Dell Poweredge 4300 running NT4 SP6a and IIS 4.  This server used to run SSI pages perfectly until one fateful day.  I believe that the last thing done on the server was to re-install MDAC.

Now when opening any SSI page (or just an HTML page named .stm) the browser fails to load the page and diaplays "Error 500 - Internal server Error".  On the server I get this message in event viewer "The server failed to load application '/LM/W3SVC'.  The error was '80040154'."

I have scoured Technet and closest solution I could find was one recommending the installation of SP2.  I have re-installed SP6, but at am a loss as to what I should try.

How did you determine what MDAC is right for your system?

When I updated MDAC I had to download a utility which detected my system settings and recommend versions that would work for me... did you do that?
