Question : Administrative prohibition ??

I have exchange 2003.  I was getting a couple bouncebacks from domains saying they don't accept mail from servers with an open relay.  So I was just in the beginning stages of fixing that, when I received this error when running a test e-mail:

There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient's email server.  Please contact your system administrator.

I reset all the settings I previously did, and this message is still coming up.  What do I do to fix this?

Thanks!

Answer : Administrative prohibition ??

Taking a different train of thought for a moment, perhaps this isn't a technical problem at your end..?  If your server was earmarked as an open relay, and as you said, you were getting bouncebacks, then maybe your server is still on a blacklist or is being barred by a few individual companies... pending what other experts say about the technical side, perhaps it's worth getting in touch with these "selected few" domains and seeing if it's their end causing the grief...
