Question : SMTP issues: Email being sent but not arriving.  How to trace an email...Lotus Notes

I am having an issue sending email through my .NET web application (using an SMTP server).  Most messages make it through but a few do not.  We use an SMTP server to send out mail, and I suspect that the problem is with that box, but I do not have access to that server (which also runs Brightmail, a spam filtering product).

Is there any way to track an email that is sent out to at least verify that it was sent properly, and that it arrived at the SMTP server properly etc?

We run Lotus Notes 6.5 here, but there isn't any integration between my web application and Notes.

notes keeps it all in one log file (called log.nsf). If they have message tracking turned on then they can also use the admin client to track the message within the environment (but not external servers)
