Question : Not able to ping other machines in the network, similarly not able to access this win2003 server

Basically i am not a system  admin, but my office people wanted me to install Active directory. So i have installed Windows 2003 server (SP1) media was bought in the year (mar-2006). Now after installing the OS i created a domain name called rd.local using the command DCPROMO, it went on well and was able to create the domain name and also was able to add users in Active Directory
Coming to the network connections, this win2003 server is on  a local ip 192.168.x.x and the main server which we have is a linux server. I have given the local ip, default gateway and DNS (Provided by ISP). After all these steps i see the network icon on the tray shows Local Area connection Connected, but i reality i cant ping from this win2003 server nor from other machines to this servers.

Please let me know if the question that i have raised has some missing information.

Answer : Not able to ping other machines in the network, similarly not able to access this win2003 server

Hi,

You may check if there is any Anti-virus with firewall feature enabled. Disable the firewall feature as it usually blocks all the traffic. Also disable the Windows Firewall and then check again.

If still you are not able to ping that machine then try refreshing the NIC driver for any possible conflicts.
