Question : Clients not showing up in DNS
Greetings all,
I have win2003 R2 servers with dhcp and DNS. I have recently installed a VoIP system and have the phones on one VLAN and the Computers systems registerig on another VLAN. And the Servers on yet a different VLAN.
The issue I am having is although all phones and systems are getting proper IPs thorugh DHCP I see NONE of the workstations in DNS. I do not know much about DNS, hence my need here.
I have the clients DNS properties (at the NIC) to update DNS.)
On the DHCP server my scope options reflect the proper IP of the DNS. (It is the same box)
Since my server VLAN is a 10.1.0.x and my computer systems are getting a 10.1.1.x from DCHP do I need to do something with zones in DNS to reflect the clients getting the 10.1.1 addresses so it "sees" them? (I have 10.5.XX 10.6.xx.etc... at remote sites/buildings)
Answer : Clients not showing up in DNS
How did I miss this post?
Yes all new devices on the LAN work fine, get DHCP but do not register in DNS. DNS and DHCP are on same box. DHCP leases are going fine, and it is set to update DNS but that is not happening for some reason.
