Question : Finding Wireless Networks Offline

Hi,

I use my laptop to work with all of my clients. I require connect back to the office to lookup some information. I have considered buying a 3g card and plan, but they are expensive and only allow 5gb of bandwidth. After that they bill huge fees.

Is there a program / defacto standard for finding wireless networks near me offline? It would be nice to know that 1 mile away there is something I can connect too.

What do you use?

Answer : Finding Wireless Networks Offline

Hi,

Assuming that you would of course be getting permission from the owners of nearby wireless networks, there are a number of tools you can use to detect these.

The easiest to use is probably netstumbler - http://www.netstumbler.com - or easywifiradar - http://www.makayama.com/easywifiradar.html
