Question : IMAP sync

I am trying to find information regarding IMAP4.
Does IMAP sync for calanders? If I create a folder on my outlook should IMAP sync to the server under my account and create that folder, so If I goto my mobile device and sync it up I should then have that folder on my mobile device? my calendar on my mobile should sync up through IMAP4 correct?

Answer : IMAP sync

OK I get that IMAP can only sync folders...  
CAN OUTLOOK TAKE THOSE EVENTS AND INCORPORATE THEM INTTO THE ACTUAL CALENDAR?
 
See I can do that too, however the question specifically said can OUTLOOK. If that would require a different protocol or setup then maybe someone could say that.  Or we could have a pissing contest of who's font is bigger/better?
