Question : Bandwith Size

Hello, I am new to web design, and I have a question about bandwith. First, I am creating a site for a former employer. The site entails several .flv files for a video player (approximately 2.0 Gigabytes). When completed, the overall size of the website (including images, pages, etcetera) should be greater than 2.0 Gigabytes. Often, I see on websites something to this nature, "Please contribute to our website. As we are being charged a fortune in bandwith each month."

How do I know what size bandwith I will need? And will it be sufficient? What is a good amount of bandwith?

I foresee several thousands of people using this website and all of its features to include: video player, mp3 player, voting system, test application, etcetera.

Answer : Bandwith Size

This is a tricky question.  Bandwidth usage depends mostly on the number of users.  Let's assume you have 10,000 users and they would consume 300MB each daily.  Then it will take you 300MB x 10,000users x 30days.  This can be a lot.  Therefore what i suggest is either finding a webhost which gives you plenty of bandwidth (45GB+) or find hosts giving unlimited bandwidth to be on the safe side.
