Question : Mystery Locking Icon
I am running XP Pro Service Pack 3 on a Dell Dimension 4600 C and I have a wierd problem. I have a icon in the exact center of my desktop that resembles a LOCK and then morphs to a UNLOCK. This is not on the same layer as my windows (my curser passes beneath the icon and is out of sight until the cursor emerges from the other side of the icon). This icon starts even before windows loads up and loads even under safe mode login.
I have run various anti-spyware (Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, ect with no success), I have updated the BIOS from A06 to A09, and I have run Process Explorer in an attempt to identify this icon.
Help :)
Answer : Mystery Locking Icon
It could also be monitor related. Can you try a different monitor on the computer please and see if this goes away - probably worth trying this before adjusting any BIOS settings.
