Question : pcAnywhere - Will not find PC

Hello Experts,

I have pc Anywhere 10.5 installed at my home and at a friends home - from the friends home I can connect to my PC at my house with not problems.

The other way around i.e connecting from my house to thier house causes problems,

Firstly we both have belkin routers, to connect to my friends router admin pages it only works if you go to ":8080"
My router can be accessed by just the IP address without the :8080

On my friends computer pcAnywhere host is running as it should be,

on my computer, I open the remote properties and in the "network host PC to control or IP address" I type "HTTP://:8080 (Anything other than this i.e without the http:// or without the :8080 does not allow anything to work)

When it connects, it will initialise connection, then scan for TCP/IP, then a box will come up with waiting for selection at the bottom, but the box is empty, nothing in it to select even though the host is running for TCP/IP conections.

Here is the scren shot of the ports that are forwarded, the PC I want to connect to is 19.168.2.2

Well im stuck so what can I do?

Thanks in advance,

Answer : pcAnywhere - Will not find PC

I can see 2 routing problems with your situaution.
Firstly the port 8080 is to connect to the router, not pc anywhere. you will need to leave the 8080 out of the connection properties.
The reason why this won't work still is his router has the same ports (5131-5132) open to 3 address' so how does the router decide which one to send it to ?

I would try clearing two of the lines on his router so that it is only set up to let port 5131-5132 through to a single ip address, then try accessing it through http://

If that works you may need to set the other pcanywhere hosts on his lan to listen on different ports, say 5133-5134 for one of them, and 5135-5136 for the other then set his router to allow those ports through to the respective pc's.
