Question : Verizon DSL based wireless network stopped working.

A client has a verizon dsl based wired network. I installed a netgear wireless router and had it working wired and wireless. The client had some problems and the tech of Verizon told him that wireless won't work with Verizon and to remove the router.

He is also running Norton Internet Security 2009, if that makes a difference.

When I try to get to 192.168.0.1 or 192.158.1.1, it fails. Both the wireless and wired networks are set up with dhcp and no ips or dns ips specified.

Answer : Verizon DSL based wireless network stopped working.

Most likely the verizon tech had your customer reset his dsl modem.

You need to connect first to the modem and change the setting from DHCP to bridge.
You do that by connecting the pc directly to the dsl modem and accessing the configuration menu

After you have set the  dsl modem to bridge then you can setup your router for PPPoE connection put the verixon username and password and you should be able to connect at that point
