Question : How do you set up an SPF record on Exchange Server 2000 Standard/SBS 2000

Good Day Experts,

I need to create an Sender Policy Framework Record in Exchange 2000 Standard on SBS 2000 to prevent e-mail spammers from forging sender names on e-mails that we receive.  I've been told that using and SPF record allows the Exchange server to know what SMTP mail has been forged and not forged.  Could someone provide Instruction on how to do this?

Many Thanks,

Ellsworth

There is nothing from Microsoft on SPF as they have their own variant.

This is the SPF site: http://www.openspf.org/

Having the ISP set SPF records will do almost nothing to reduce the amount of the spam that you receive.

For tests you would need to use a third party product. I don't use SPF records for any of my sites as the number of domains who have SPF records is very small. I put them on to the domains, but the records are set to the open records - ie all servers - so that I don't have to worry about them again.

Simon.
