Question : winxp home and winxp pro cannot share shared folders

i dont know if this was discussed before but i have a network using linksys befsr41 ver.3 , two winxp machines one is home edition and the other is professional edition. they can acess internet with no problem but they cannot see each other in the network places. they are in the same workgroup but still when i open the network places it still not recognizing both machines.

on the xp home machine when i open the network places i can see the xppro machine but cant access the shared folders (with full permissions)

on the xp pro machine when openning the network places, i cant see the xp home machine

i tried to ping the static address:

xp pro to xp home - ok
xp home to xp pro - request timed out
xp pro and xp home to linksys router - ok

i had the IPF turned off on both machines but still no communications on both machines.

im getting dizzy with this problem. hope somebody would help me with this.

thanks in advance

Answer : winxp home and winxp pro cannot share shared folders

To reinstall TCP/IP you just enter the command above in a command prompts.

1. Start, Run, type CMD.
2. Type the following command exactly as shown:
netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt
3. Reboot.

That is all there is to it.

Simon.
