Question : Urgent! DHCP XP client using it's own ip as gateway
|
|
URGENT! I have ISC DHCP server running on a redhat linux server with the following config:
unregistered clients are dynamically assigned an ip from the 192.168.0.0/24 range GW: 192.168.0.254 NM: 255.255.255.0
registered/activated clients are assigned an ip from the 10.0.0.0/24 range NM: 255.255.255.0 GW: 10.0.0.254
The problem is that clients running windows xp are using the networking information retreived from dhcp server for the client ip, netmask, dns, but not the gateway. These xp clients are taking their newly assigned dhcp ip address ( 10.0.0.x ) and using that same ip as their default gateway, instead of 10.0.0.254. Clients that do this are suffering from intermittent slowdowns on their connections.
Please help!

problem solved. problem was being caused by HP switches configured as AutoGateway=YES under Automatic Broadcast Control. Once that was switched to NO, all clients started working correctly.
