Answer : WebSphere SSL enabled LDAP with global security does this mean browser to Web Server or Web Server to Application Server communication has to be with HTTPS also?

No.  It doesn't

It means that the connection from the Web Server plugin to the LDAP server will be SSL.

However, it would be very silly to no require SSL from the user to the web server as well.

Global security means that a userid & password are required to administer WebSphere, which means that you need an authorized userid & password to:

- Log in to the Admin Console
- Stop AppServer
- Connect to the AppServer using either wsadmin, or some Java JMX application.
