Question : Wierd DHCP Address 169.254

When setting my laptop to DHCP, I am getting an address 169.254.138.6 w/subnet 255.255.0.0
We do not use DHCP, so I am wondering where this address is coming from.
Is it possible that this is just an address assigned when no DHCP server can be found?

I tried to use DHCPEXPLORER and it did not detect any servers?

Thanks.

Answer : Wierd DHCP Address 169.254

That would be correct.  This is the address range that the machine assigns if no DHCP is available.
