Question : Cisco 2811 CME / PSTN / FXO interface routing calls to IP Phone

Hi experts.

I'm very green when it comes to IP telephony. For about 6 months we've been managing to get by with a Cisco 2811 with CME (Version 4.1(0)Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express) and several IP phones for managing internal calls. However, we now want to open up our VOIP platform to the telephone network in the UK.

We have a standard BT PSTN line coming in which is presently connected to a VIC2-2FXO interface (this is a module in the NM-HD-1V) in the 2811.

When we dial the PSTN number, the phone does ring but when we answer it goes dead. Replace the handset and it rings again.
Likewise, at present we cannot dial out. I must stress - there is only 1 handset we want to use for this at present.

Config snippets below:

voice-port 1/0/0
 cptone GB
 connection plar opx 1001
 impedance complex2
 caller-id enable
!
dial-peer voice 1 pots
 destination-pattern 9T
 port 1/0/0
!
ephone-dn  1  dual-line
 number 1001
 name Main Desk
!
ephone  1
 mac-address 0013.7F38.BA44
 type 7940
 button  1:1
!

Thanks!
