Question : Broadband stops phone working

Hello Everyone,
I have a friend who lives in France and has Orange Broadband. He has had a new computer and now has the following problem.
When he has the broadband switched on he cannot make or recieve a phone call.
If he is in the middle of a phone call, regardless of whether he made or recieved the call, he can connect his broadband and continue the phone call.
I thought it may be the filters, but he has replaced them and still has the problem.
He only has two phone points, both has filters on them.

Any Ideas?

Might be a setting needs to be tweaked in the modem, but more likely he needs to get a replacement from Orange (if possible).
