Question : Renewing IP address

Customer says internet worked before changing from DSL to cable.  Now, the message "Acquiring IP address" is constantly present.  WinsockFix doesn't fix it.  Uninstalling and reinstalling NIC drivers hasn't worked.  Replacing NIC hasn't worked.  USB cable in place of CAT5e cable to cable modem doesn't work.  Disabling Norton Internet Security firewall and Windows firewall hasn't worked.

I ran out of time for penpointing the problem of not being able to acquire an IP address.  A repair install of Windows didn't work.  So, I ran a complete recovery on the system.  That fixed the problem.?*?/?*%?
