Answer : cdrom drive keeps ejecting automatically

I've experienced this problem a few times. Two times, the problem was simply that the drawer switch was dirty. If you are really interested in salvaging the drive, I would remove it, thoroughly clean it, allow it to dry, regrease the sled (the track upon which the optical pickup slides back and forth) reinstall, and test. The problem with the third drive was a crack/short in the circuit board caused by mishandling at some point.

These common problems seem likely in your situation:

  * Drawer loading belts - worn, oily, flabby, or tired.
  * Sticky mechanism - dirt, dried up/lack of lubrication, hair, sand, etc.
  * Broken (plastic) parts - gear teeth, brackets, or mountings.
  * Intermittent limit or interlock switches - worn or dirty.
  * Bad connections - solder joints, connectors, or cracked flex cable traces.
  * Motors - electrical (shorted, dead spot) or mechanical (dry/worn bearings).

Hope this helps.
