Question : Exchange Stop Recieving email

I am at a lose. Our exchange admin has left and the box has simply stopped recieving email. I can send email... however, cannot recieve. I have checked the services and they look good. The only thing I see that looks like it is down is the virtual smtp. However, send mail is fine.. HELP!

Can you telnet to the Exchange server on port 25 and perform a test message via telnet? You will need to type these from a command prompt:
telnet exchangeserver 25 helo mail from: [email protected] rcpt to: [email protected] data this is a test .
Also, I'm certain the Virtual SMTP Server must be running (you mentioned it's down). Finally - any errors or warnings in the event logs on the server?
