Question : Find computer name on local domain by IP Address

Greetings,

I'm cleaning up my inherited DHCP server and found that some of my PC's are not using the DHCP but instead have the IP address saved under it's TCP/IP settings.

I have the IP address. ex. 192.168.2.13

what dos command will tell me the info i.e. computer name, using that ip address?

Answer : Find computer name on local domain by IP Address

the command "nslookup" solves your problem

e.g. nslookup 192.168.2.13

...but it should be noted, that you can't resolve every ip into an hostname...
