Question : Slow browsing performance with cisco 871w router

I have a Macbook at home behind a Cisco 871w router running 12.4(15)T9 Crypto feature set and the web browsing performance is much slower behind the router, on the wired as well as wireless LAN, than if it is directly connected to the RCN cable modem. It is hard to describe the sluggishness other than slow web browsing experience because repeated online bandwidth speed tests at http://www.speedtest.net show no difference whatsoever when using direct connection vs through the router. But clips from Youtube.com and dailyshow.com are much slower to load. Also if I have multiple tabs open, they take longer to load. Also Facebook is consistently slower when I am connected through the router.

All of the 871w router's Fast Ethernet interfaces are set to Auto and detect 100Mbps/Full.

I am attaching a sanitized version of the config here, but essentially what I have done now is remove crypto map statements on the interfaces as well as 'ip inspect' (CBAC firewall). I don't know what else to remove to ensure the 871w router, which was initially configured via SDM, can forward packets with no noticeable delay to web browsing. Past solutions to similar questions point to removing all irrelevant config on the 871 router, just leaving NAT. I would also like to keep SSH, but if that also needs to be removed, then I'll have to reconsider holding on to this router. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Answer : Slow browsing performance with cisco 871w router

I figured it out. At some point in time, the DNS servers entered into the DHCP options for the router were different from the DNS servers that were coming directly from the cable modem. I guess at some point RCN probably changed the DNS servers. All I needed to do was hard-code the DNS servers with what RCN currently advertises. The speed has improved considerably. Thanks all!
