Question : Linksys RV042 - BEFVP41 VPN - can't access machines across VPN except by IP

I have a VPN across 2 networks that I have been using for 2 years with no problems with 2 x Linksys BEFVP41 routers. I recently "upgraded" one of them to a Linksys RV042 because I needed more port forwarding thatn the BEF could handle.

Since this "upgrade" I can't access any machines across the VPN through normal Windows file handling.

I can "see" all the machines across the network  by looking at the workgroup, they're all there but if I double clik on one of them I get: "\\*whatever* is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. COntact the administrator of this server...yadayadayada...The network path was not found."

I can use Remote Desktop to access the machines by IP so I can connect to them, just not as a network resource.

I have netbios broadcast enabled on the BEFVP41 (like it's always been) and on the RV042 I also have it enabled. I asssume that this should be all I need?

Any help would be much appreciated. We use this VPN as daily incremental backup and it's been down for a couple of weeks.

It all boils down to NetBios and name resolution.

You could try a LMHOSTS file with the name/ip of the resources
