Question : HP laserjet 4050N jetdirect printer

I have an HP laserjet 4050N jetdirect print device, I  connected it locally to a computer through LPT cabel, I downloaded the drivers, but I still can't print to it from the computer. The reason is it has an IP address of 192.x.x.x I want to disable the jetdirect port so that it can print locally from the computer is connected to. i did the cold reset and also went through the printer panel menu , but couldn't get it to print from the computer.

did you have a printer connected to the computer via the lpt port before? or is this the first printer? it could be that your lpt port is bad (just trying to cover all angles)
