Question : I want to create different subnets
I want to create different subnets, 1 for servers (192.168.10.x), 1 for switches(192.168.20.x), , 1 for users(192.168.30.x), , 1 for printer(192.168.40.x), and I want them all to talk to each other on the same LAN. My guess is I need to set the subnet mask correctly but have no idea what and don't understand it very well. I've only done a single net with 255.255.255.0 in the past.

If you want each network to have a class C subnet then you are going to have to put routers between each network. I am assuming in your scenario this is something you don't want to do. Instead you can set your subnet mask to a class B (255.255.0.0). So your network address would be 192.168.0.0 with a subnet mask of 255.255.0.0 Your IP range will be: 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.255.254
