Question : SNMP agent looping after McAfee patch level update

I have several servers that suddenly fail to report in to an SNMP-based alerting system.  This happens every time our anti-virus engine is updated from one patch level to another.  We are running McAfee, with E-Policy Orchestrator.  This happens on Windows Server 2000 and 2003.  The error is something like this:
SWFE-E-ELOOP-Agent loops in response to GET_NEXT:
The OID is not consistent, and sometimes points at Dell (These are NOT Dell machines) or will point at Compaq, or even Microsoft.
In the past, I have restarted the SNMP service on the affected servers, which works about half of the time.  If a service restart and a server reboot have not corrected the issue, I go looking into the registry, and delete most of the keys I find in the hive: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SNMP\Parameters\ExtensionAgents.

Most of these entries are for Microsoft products, but I find McAfee in there as well.
I am looking for a more permanent solution than restarting services and deleting Registry keys that don't look proper.
Is there a way to detect these looping issues, and is there a way to automatically stop them?

Answer : SNMP agent looping after McAfee patch level update

I don't think there is a GPO option to do that.  Even if there were it could cause other products to fail if they needed to update entry.

I think the only thing you can do is script the removal of the entry and hope that someday M$ or McAffe resolves the issue.
