Question : Convert Cisco DB9-RJ45 console cable to a null modem DB9-RJ45 cable
I have lost the special null modem cable to my Avocent DSR2035 IPKVM. I need to make a new one. I have several extra Cisco DB9-RJ45 console cables laying around. How do I convert a Cisco DB9-RJ45 console cable to a null modem DB9-RJ45 cable?
Answer : Convert Cisco DB9-RJ45 console cable to a null modem DB9-RJ45 cable
A pair of the Cisco DB9->RJ45 units and do up a CAT5 cable with a full reverse in it to join them. This is not the same as a typical 'cross' network cable
All pins are reversed as follows,
1 > 8
2 > 7
3 > 6
4 > 5
5 > 4
6 > 3
7 > 2
8 > 1
