I have an Exchange 2003 server all workign fine. Now I tried to install another Exchange 2003 server in the same domain. THough the mail box moving to the new server was successful the moved mailbox users cant receive any mails. Any Idea what went wrong? is there any proceedure to install second exchange server in same domain. Not front and backend. Both will work as backend.

Hi,
I believe that in this case you would actually need a front end server, but I am not 100% sure -- since there could be other problems with your current setup.
The problem with your setup currently is that only one server is receiving e-mail from the internet the one that is setup on your firewall or router to get traffic forwarded to.
With front and server it would receive all e-mails from the internet and it would look in Active Directory on which back end server the mailbox with that e-mail address resided and it would deliver the e-mail to that back end server.
As a workaround, you can try and set this up. On Exchange server that is receiving all e-mails from the internet, open SMTP Virtual Server properties and go click on Messages tab and in "Forward all mail with unresolved recipients to host" enter name or IP address of your new Exchange server. If you will enter an IP address you will have to use the form [192.168.10.10] including brackets. Replace 192.168.10.10 with IP address of your Exchange server. Restart Simple Mail Transport Service in services.msc.
Another benefit of front end server is single namespace for Outlook Web Access. If you use Outlook Web Access , your clients will not have to know on which server their mailbox resided. For example user1 will have to enter https://server1.server.com/exchange while user2 will have to enter https://server2.server.com/exchange. With Front end setup they would both use e.g. https://owa.server.com/exchange.
