Question : Can website hosting servers able to hide thier geogrphical location?

Hello
Long time ago i have a question about how those people can hide thier website hosting server Location or IP idress for thier website
Because am not IT professionl so please execuse me if i cant describe the question , so i'll do my best to ask the question :)
There are a websites that provides  an illegal software on thier sites , i mean they provide a links to  example rapidshare.com or filefactory or...... etc   for an illagal copy for many software and OS ..etc.
My question is ..... Are these websites can hide thier geographical location to prevent the companies to catch them ?
according my information every country has a range of IPs address so if i use Who's or internetfrog.com website i can know where that IP
i know theres something called a proxy server but this is suitable for browsing the internet but what about websitehosting?
could you please someone expalin me how a website can hide thier location ?
