Question : tcpip and browser event viewer error

I have a laptop running Win XP Pro.  Just recently, whenever I was wireless, I would lose connectivity  and then quickly i would be told a wireless connection was available.   I would be able to connect again and then get booted in a few minutes( this would happen over and over).  I then tried a different wireless card and wireless router combination and still had the same problem. Even when i was plugged in wired, the computer would end up freezing the network.  Here are the error messages I would receive:

    The system detected that network adapter %2 was disconnected from the network, and the adapter's network configuration has been released. If the network adapter was not disconnected, this may indicate that it has malfunctioned. Please contact your vendor for updated drivers.

   The system detected that network adapter \DEVICE\TCPIP_{4160C105-59B6-41A2-8A61-798F71389AB3} was disconnected from the network, and the adapter's network configuration has been released. If the network adapter was not disconnected, this may indicate that it has malfunctioned. Please contact your vendor for updated drivers.

Now i fixed this problem on my laptop by doing an OS reload. I was just wondering if there was another and more effective way to fix this problem.

Answer : tcpip and browser event viewer error

Click Start->Run->Devmgmt.msc
Locate your adapter there and double-click it - check the Power Management tab and make sure that it's not allowed to close your connection to conserve power..
