Question : win2k errors in event viewer with netlogon

I am having a world of difficulties with my Win2k Pro.  It was working fine, till I started to play with the settings on my NIC card supplied by the manufacturer.  It was a 3COM nic card, I had to change a couple of settings internally on the card so I can get it to work with Xandros O/S.  But when I booted up to windows 2000 pro.  It started to give me errors in the event viewer..  Errors in the event viewer are :

Source: NETLOGON
Event ID: 5737
Description - The System returned the following unexpected error code: The Requested service provider could not be loaded or initialized.

Source: Service Control Manager
Event ID: 7024
Description: The Net Logon service terminated with service-specific error 5737.

Source: w32time
event id: 54
description: The windows time service was not able to find a Domain Controller A. Time and date was not possible.

I think the last two error messages are caused by the first one which was the problem with the net logon.  I have also replaced the previous nic with a different nic and I am still seeing the same error messages.  I can't seem to find it on the microsoft knowledge base.  I am clueless on what to do.  I checked in the services panel and the NET LOGON was not started, but when I tried to start the service it gave me the message to refer to the event viewer (which I have stated above).  Have you guys ran into this problem before? I have un-install TCP/IP and all network settings and set them back up.  Same problem persists.

Thanks.

Answer : win2k errors in event viewer with netlogon

OK - I got the same result after uninstalling a Hughes Direcway connection.

I tried all the registry tricks MS had to offer, none worked.  I reloaded W2K and the SP's I had - no dice.

In the end I took everything off my networking - probably you could try just getting rid of the Client for MS Nets or the File and Print Sharing, but after two days of not having a valid workstation i was pretty angry.  Especially since I could ping anything but not get any DNS stuff done.

So empty your network settings box and rebuild it.  Things will return.

By the way, if you check you'll see that Net Logon runs lsass.exe and it's there even when it says it doens't work.  Also if someone took the time to write a crash routine returning error 5737 one would think a responsible company would document that where those of us getting the message could check it out.

Good Luck!
